INVESTIGATION AND APPLICATION OF NURSING THEORIES AND CONCEPTS TO PROFESSIONAL NURSING PRACTICE

PURPOSE:
1.to investigate and summarize a nursing theory and its related concepts describing its theoretical basis for nursing practice and
2.to demonstrate the results of your investigation by applying these findings within nursing practice settings.

FOCUS: the focus of this assignment is" Nursing Theorists." Review the nursing theorist' concept on the nature of health. Then select ONE THEORIST and examine in greater detail.Choos a theorist who has a concept of health that appeals to you or fits with your beliefs/values. There are two main parts to the paper:

PART 1.summarise the theorist's key concepts and ideas and give an overview of her theory. You mast include a discussion of the four major concepts:healts ane its relationship with the person, the environment and nursing.

PART:2 describe how this theorist's model and concepts are or could be operational zed within the framework of nursing practice.

GUIDELINES: PART 1 involves the investigation of the works and contributions made by the theorist and other who have published articles about the worked the theorist you have chosen. This is culled the literature search or review and provides knowledge into what is know or not know about the theory. The search should include professional texts and journal articles. The use of especially CINAHL,PROQUEST, and OVID are strongly encouraged. The use of internet and other online sources is also encouraged but please ensure that the information you se is from reputable sources.

After completing this review f the literature ,describe your findings. Complete a synopsis or summery of the theory its concept ,perspectives ,research studies, and other relevant findings. This discussion can include information from the theorist herself, as well as that from related articles.

The following questions may assist you in completing this section of your paper:

1, Have you identified ,described and summarized tee relevant components of the theory and its concepts?

2.Have you identified and described reserch studies?

3.Did you clearly cite your primary sources?

4.Does your review follow a plan so that the development of the theory and concepts are clear? Most plans are chronological, r follow various authors ,or concepts. This depends on how organize your paper.

The transition form part 1 to part 2 should be a smooth one and clearly indicated.

PART 2: This section provides an opportunity for our to se and "test" how colleagues and authors have applied the theory that you have selected. In other words, how do these authors relate the concepts to nursing strategies and practice for a specific client population OR care setting? You may also seek information directly from nursing colleagues who have utilized or subscribed to the theory of choice. This may be good place to discuss strength and weacnesses.Choos one o the following options as your care setting or population:

1.NURSING PRACTICE:(a clinical or specialty area with a specific populating of clients , nursing education0.

2.nursing settings: primary, secondary, arterially care setting)

3.CLIENT SYSTEM:(ntrapersonal, interpersonal, or community subsystem)

4. NURSING SYSTEM: within a specific area of nursing practice.e.g.Advanced Practice Nursing or Nursing Practitioners).
