INFORMATION SYSTEM MANAGEMENT
Management Information System
Management Information Systems is a general name for academic discipline covering the application of information technology to business area problems. The study of information system is usually a commerce and business administration discipline, and frequently involves software engineering, but also distinguishes itself by concentrating on the integration of computer systems with aims of the organization. In business, information systems support business processes and operations, decision-making, and competitive strategies (, 2006).
Information Processing Tools
Information processing includes information retrieval to data mining to statistical analysis.
CDS/ISIS
CDS/ISIS is a generalized Information Storage and Retrieval system. It is designed specifically for computerized management of structured non-numerical databases. It consists of variety of application and development tools that enable people to automate their information process workflow. The Windows version may run on a single computer or in a local area network. The JavaISIS client/server components allow remote database management over the Internet and are available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh. Furthermore, GenISIS allows the user to produce HTML Web forms for CDS/ISIS database searching. The ISIS_DLL provides an API for developing CDS/ISIS based applications.
The generic CDS/ISIS software also called Winisis allows to define, create and manage a set of databases for storing and handling information. Its data structure allows storing information on fields which have unlimited number of occurrences, undefined length and divided into subfields.

IsisMARC is data entry particularly adapted for handling MARC-like formats, namely MARC21, UNIMARC and others. It is basically a data entry interface for CDS/ISIS databases that work on Windows and it is meant to replace the standard Winisis data entry window with a more powerful environment.

GENISIS is an authoring software for visually producing web forms to query CDS/ISIS databases. There are two versions of the tool: GenisisWeb, for web publishing and GenisisCD for developing CDRom interfaces for CDS/ISIS databases.

IDAMS
IDAMS is a software package for the validation, manipulation and statistical analysis of data. It is a collection of data management and analysis facilities accessible through a user interface. It is the modern user interface and on-line manual. It constitute of the possibility to customize the environment for an application. It has an editor for creating/updating data description files, editor for creating/updating files with instructions for program execution, and editor in creating/updating data files. It has also interactive data import/export, viewer for displaying and navigation of results and advanced text editing facilities. It has an interactive construction of multidimensional tables, exploration data, and time series analysis.
Its data analysis includes univariate and bivariate tables and statistics, distribution of Lorenz functions, one-way analysis of variance, Pearsonian correlation, linear regression, multiple classification analysis, discriminant analysis, cluster analysis, principal component factor analysis, principal component factor analysis and analysis of correspondence.
It data management allows sorting and merging of files, data import/export, data editing, checking codes and consistencies, listing, subsetting, aggregating and merging data.

The WinIDIS program prepares data description and perform data transfer between IDAMS and CDS/ISIS. When going from ISIS to IDAMS, a new IDAMS Dictionary and Data files are always constructed and they can merged with the other data using IDAMS data management facilities. When going from IDAMS to ISIS, a completely new data base can be constructed or transferred records can be added to an existing database records or records of an existing database can be updated with the transferred data.
