Road accidents have been considered to be one of the primary causes of mortality rates in different countries and Tanzania is never an exception. Road accidents are commonly caused by motorcyclists, bicyclists, vehicular occupants and pedestrians. Accordingly, road traffic accidents have killed an estimated 1.3 million people and injure 50 million people annually in different parts of the world, and global road fatalities are forecast to reach 1.9 million by 2020 (CGRS, 2009). As they account for more deaths which have been caused by malaria, road traffic accidents can be deliberated no less than a global pandemic. It has bene mentioned that such accidents are the second most common cause of death of individuals between 5 and 29 years old. And in this analysis young men are nearly three times more likely to be killed or injured on the roads than young women.
Since the 1990s people all over the globe are noting their concerns with the rapid growth in the number of casualties in road accidents, specifically as many developing nations have entered a stage of rapid motorization. In this generation, about 90% or more of road traffic deaths happened in low and middle income nations. The research activity will also make use of secondary data from academic journals, books, and other publications that could provide additional information regarding road accidents.
